Midlife is Not a Crisis
It’s a life stage that requires a little TLC.
Navigating Midlife.
We often become stuck and disoriented in midlife. We’re encountering things we haven’t encountered before, and we’re pretty much on our own to figure it all out. It’s called a crisis, but it doesn’t have to be that way.
That’s because there are ways to navigate it. Astrology is an an amazing way to help you find your way through the middle years.
Astrology as a guidance tool.
I have found great solace in Astrology. So much so that I have been studying it for well over a decade.
It holds up a mirror so you can see yourself in a deep and authentic way. It also provides information about the various shifts that happen in the middle of life. If you know what to expect and when, you are better able to navigate.
The good news is that Astrology has been around for thousands of years, so even thought it’s esoteric, there is a lot of science behind it.
Below is a summary of the main mid-life transitions. Sometimes Astrology is good for looking forward, but it can also be helpful for looking back and making sense of things. You don’t have to take my word for it. You can look back on your life at the time of these passages and see what was going on in your own life. Or, you can be curious as you head into these transits.
The midlife journey.
I’ve provided highlights in this post. Go here for more detailed explanations.
Pluto - Age 37
Pluto is the planet of transformation, which sounds good until you have to do it. To transform, something has to fall away and then you need to build again. At age 37 there is tension around something that isn’t working in your life. Clues as to what this might be can be found in your individual chart.
Uranus - Age 40-42
Uranus wakes you up and calls for you to be yourself. Instead of being part of the pack, you want to individuate. It is associated with freedom, breakthroughs, and sudden changes.
Neptune and Saturn - Age 43-45
Neptune arrives on the scene and says surrender. To what, we ask because Neptune isn’t always very clear. Saturn asks us to restructure things. We take stuff apart and put it back together again and hope we got it right this time.
The Chiron Return - Age 49-51
With this return, there is a focus on the processing old wounds and learn self-acceptance. We may let go of old dreams. Often, a helper appears.
Saturn Return - Age 58
The great teacher Saturn appears to make sure we get the fundamental lesson of our life. Our first Saturn Return was at 28-29. We can look to that time to see what we might expect. If we’re off course, Saturn works hard to get us back on track. This might be our hardest lesson of all.
The Uranus Square - Age 62-63
This Uranus transit makes you restless. You yearn for great adventures. If there is something you want to be, do, have, now is the time.
Ultimately, Astrology asks - Did you become yourself?
These transits are both collective and individual. We all go through them, but we do this in our own individual way. You can look at your own chart to see exactly what they mean to you.
