What fascinates you?
Unlock the mysteries within.
The Path of Fascination
You can build a life and a living by following your fascination. It can be a gentle path to fulfillment and meaning.
What is fascination?
You know you are fascinated when it takes no effort to pay attention to something. You’re drawn to it even though you may not know why. It just is. You get that excited, bubbly feeling in your belly when you think of it.
For example, I volunteer every Saturday at a horse rescue. When I think of going to the barn, my whole body buzzes with excitement about seeing my horse friends. I’ve been doing this for about eight years. I am never less fascinated with this.
What's the opposite of fascination?
Boredom. If you’re bored, look to fascination as a remedy.
What do do with your fascination.
Start where you are and take a first step to explore it. It’s pretty much guaranteed that your mind will jump in with reasons why not to do this. “It’s stupid.” “You can’t make a living doing this.” “What will people think?” “What if I invest time in the wrong thing?”
Don’t push through this part. Get curious. There’s a part of you trying to keep you safe. If you try to push through, it will double-down on you. You’ll know this is happening if you feel more uncertain, or more fearful or more anxious. If you dismiss your impulses and never take action on what fascinates you, you know there’s a part of you trying to keep you safe.
There are several techniques and tools to help do this. A simple one is to picture the part of you saying this as an actual person. Maybe it’s you at a younger age. Or maybe it’s your Mom or Dad. Then have a conversation with it, starting with, “Is that true?” Honor its concern and explain you’re just taking a first step … you’re not throwing your life away.
What’s the smallest possible step you could take?
Keep the fires burning.
Keep the fires of your fascination burning. To do this, you follow the impulses that urge you to explore. Every human being is a mystery with a code. To unlock this code, its a magical mix of feeling fascination and real-world steps.
The steps turn into a path, the path turns into a journey where you discover purpose and meaning. But, if you don’t start with fascination or find fascination along the way, you can end up on the wrong path.
What if you're not fascinated with anything?
The code is still within you. But, there is something that needs to mend first. A broken part of you is obscuring what is within you. I always picture it like a branch over the path. When you lift the branch, the path is there. It always has been.
Contemplate you. Feel around the edges of the parts that you’d rather avoid. Be gentle with yourself. Typically, coaching is forward-looking, but for finding fascination, looking backward and remembering and rediscovering things that fascinated you can be like connecting dots and creating a picture you’ve never been aware of before.
What if this is just a mystery of your life? A mystery can be solved. The ingredients of solving this particular mystery are: compassion, curiosity, care, clarity, creativity, calmness, connectedness.
Where can your fascination take you?
With fascination, you’re motivated by love, instead of fear. You’re heading out on a path that feels just right to you. You don’t know what might open up with each step you take.
You stay connected to your fascination, you take steps, you stay open. You’re finding your place, you’re meeting fellow travelers. You’re headed in a direction that feels like home.
For me, being with horses, feels like home. I have followed my path of fascination and learned a lot about being with horses. I’ve taken courses and certifications in equine healing. I now help horses and other pets with my energy healing. It’s a fascination that is emerging into the world. I can’t wait to see where it takes me.

My Core Fascination
What I am also endlessly fascinated with is helping others in times of great change. (This, unexpectedly includes horses!)
As our needs, values, and ideas about our lives change, a lot of uncertainty emerges. I help women navigate this uncertainty in practical and magical ways. My focus is on purpose and our work in the world.
If you’d like to get on your path of fascination, I’d love to help. Ask me anything.
