In-full-mation

Are you full of information, but no closer to your dreams?

Green means go.

Back when the internet was new, we had a sense of awe at all the information we could find. But, is all this information actually stopping you from getting what you want?

That was what was going through my head on Monday morning as I stopped at a red light on my drive home from Wegman’s. I thought about the week ahead as I waited for the light to turn green.

My plan was to put the groceries away, then jump on my phone to catch up on the latest news. I’ve been doing that every morning for the past year. Unexpectedly, my entire being felt completely weighed down by the idea of scrolling through my phone. Which is funny, because doing so has given me comfort in troubled times.

Do I really need more information?

I sat with the feeling and realized it was one of complete boredom. “The absolute last thing I need right now is more information, ” I thought. “Actually I’m full of information. Nothing has changed in the last 24 hours that would warrant me checking in. “Not only do I not need more in-formation, I’m in-full-mation!” Haha. (There are many very clever people on the internet. Apparently, I’m not one of them.)

Maybe it's time to transition from information gathering to being in motion.

A little amused by my red-light wordplay, I took it a little further. “Not only am I in-full-mation, I should be in-full-motion, not seeking more information.”

In-for-mation

In-full-mation

In-full-motion

Not the cleverest word-play, but the message rang true, so I asked myself where the time had come to be in full motion, instead of being in information-gathering mode.

This little wordplay game with myself gave me permission to usher out a worn-out habit and usher in more supportive habits. It feels good!

Where would it serve you better to be in motion?

We are in the Information Age. You have, at your fingertips, the answers to the universe. It’s incredible. It’s also a trap.

  • Where in your life do you, right now, have enough information?
  • Where are you full of information?
  • Where would it serve you better to be in full motion?

Are you full of information, but no closer to your dreams?
