A Gentle Reminder

As We Head Into Another Week

Another week of quarantine. Another week of uncertainty. Another week of news to digest. It’s a lot.

Our experience with the coronavirus could be considered a collective trauma, with trauma being defined as “too much, too fast”. We’re being overloaded in so many ways, with so many unprecedented things.

So, it’s natural that you’re feeling “all the things” at different times (or maybe all at once). It all makes sense.

Of course, you’re exhausted.
Of course, you’re afraid.
Of course, you’re overwhelmed.
Of course, you’re nostalgic about the way things were.
Of course, you miss the friends and family you can’t see.
Of course, you’re not as productive as you’d like to be.
Of course, you’re distracted.
Of course, you’re optimistic one moment and pessimistic the next.
Of course, you’re judging others.
Of course, you want it to be over asap.
Of course, things are coming up with loved ones.
Of course, you’re still in your pajamas.

Be gentle with yourself. Have compassion for your own process. What seemed perfectly reasonable yesterday, may seem woefully out of date today. Go easy on yourself.

This is all completely new for you, for all of us. You’re doing great.
