Astrology for Your Career?
Yes! It’s a thing.
Introduction
In my previous post, “How Astrology, Human Design, and Gene Keys Can Guide Your Career Transition”, I spoke in general about all three practices. In this post, I’m going to focus specifically on Astrology.
One of the things I like most about Astrology is that it can be a permission slip to be your true self. You might hear something about yourself that you’ve always felt was true, but it was never reflected back to you by your parents or friends. But, there it is, right in your chart. It can be an affirmation that it’s ok to be you.
For example, I did a reading for a woman whose chart showed that she had a lot of luck and fortune in her career. She had been worried that things had been too easy for her and that the proverbial shoe was going to drop. Nope. Not that she wouldn’t have challenges along the way or have difficulties in other parts of life, but the career part just flowed. Knowing this, she let go of worry and stopped working so much and started to enjoy other parts of her life. Looking at herself plus her career through astrology really was a revelation for her.
That’s also how you might experience looking at your Career using Astrology – it could be revelatory! That’s because the career guidance you typically receive is one-size-fits all and astrological guidance is, by its very nature, customized perfectly to you.
1. Your quiet sensitivity might just be right in your chart.
If you’re like me, you might learn from astrology that you’re meant to be quiet and sensitive. It’s right there in your chart.
I spent my life trying to “fix” myself – to model myself after my outgoing, courageous, quick-thinking colleagues. So, when my chart showed that I was more of a deep thinker, and not so quick on my feet, it answered a lot of questions for me. It took some time to accept this, but it took a huge weight off my shoulders.
If you don’t already love your quiet, sensitive nature and consider it your superpower, I’d like to suggest that you have some work to do around your identity. I am definitely on that journey myself!
For example, if you’re doubting your value as a sensitive person, you’re likely to doubt your ability to do the big things you secretly dream of. Or, if you are pretending to be an extrovert, you’re more likely to choose the wrong path and be unhappy even though you’ve checked all the boxes of success.
Also, if you don’t know who you are, it’s harder to know what what your dream job is. What I’ve seen, so often, is that when people don’t know what they want, they slip in a a deep malaise. This is partially because they feel like others have big dreams but that they were standing behind the door when the big dreams were passed out. They believe they have to go through life settling for the crumbs. They’ve lost all hope.
2. How Astrology Can Provide Career Clarity
With Astrology, you can not only get clear about who you really are (and see value in it!), you are also provided with potential career paths that may resonate with you. For example, maybe you’re working in finance because it was the smart thing to do, but you long to be a storyteller or to work more closely with people.
This doesn’t mean you need to abandon your career you’ve worked so hard at, but to get more aligned with your career path, maybe you can find ways to weave in what’s important to you and feel more fufilled.
Astrology provides clarity because:
- Astrology offers a personalized roadmap based on you.
- It helps you understand your strengths, challenges, and ideal work environments.
- Instead of one-size-fits-all advice, astrology reveals what you are uniquely designed for.
3. Astrology Can Reveal or Confirm What's Key to Career Fulfillment
We’re all different and need different things in our careers to feel safe, settled, and fulfilled. A great place to start is by looking at:
- Water placements (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces) in your chart show the need for emotionally fulfilling work.
- Earth placements (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn) can indicate the desire for stability and financial security.
- Air placements (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius) crave intellectual stimulation, communication, and variety in their careers. They thrive in roles that allow them to share ideas, connect with people, and innovate.
- Fire placements (Aries, Leo, Sag) want passion, action, and purpose in their work. They thrive in entrepreneurial, leadership, or creative roles where they can take risks and make an impact.
4. Key Astrology Techniques for Career Transitions
You can also dig into a number of other techniques that shed light on what your life’s work might be. Looking at these techniques helps us weave together a story of what an ideal career might look like.
🔹 The Ruler of the Midheaven (MC) & Its Condition – The planet ruling your 10th house reveals your career leader as well as your career pathway, influencing the type of work that aligns with you and how your career unfolds.
🔹 The 2nd, 6th, and 10th Houses Working Together – The 2nd house reveals your money story and what you value, the 6th house describes your day-to-day routines, and the 10th house represents your broader career direction. Their interaction paints a picture of career fulfillment.
🔹 Progressions, Especially the Progressed Moon – The 30-year cycle of the Progressed Moon helps track long-term career phases, marking key transition points when a new career direction or major life change may feel inevitable.
By using these techniques (and many others!), astrology can offer personalized timing and deeper career insights, helping highly sensitive women make confident transitions.
5. My Natal Chart - the Leader of My Career
By way of an example, this is my Natal Chart. If you look at the very top of the chart, there is something like the roman numeral 2 in turquoise – this is the sign Gemini. You also see the number 10. This is the 10th House, which is the House of Career. It means that Mercury (the purple symbol at the bottom of the chart) is the leader of my Career.
With Mercury as the leader of my career, my path is deeply connected to communication, analysis, and knowledge-sharing. With Mercury in Scorpio in the 3rd house, I am a natural investigator, researcher, and storyteller, drawn to uncovering hidden truths and sharing transformative insights. Potential career paths for people with this placement involve teaching, writing, coaching, or deep research, particularly in fields like astrology, psychology, or personal development. This placement also means that I thrive when my work allows for intellectual depth, strategic thinking, and meaningful conversations. Rather than staying on the surface, I seek careers that empower, heal, or transform others through words and insights.
Hmmmm. Interesting, given the work I’m doing, right?
Using that one technique, we have a lot of rich information.
6. My Career Path - Before Astrology
Without knowing anything about Astrology, I got a BA in Psychology, but I kind of bailed on that path when all roads seemed (at the time) to lead to some form of social work.
I then decided that I really wanted to work for a magazine. I ended up on the business side of magazines, not the writing side. Oops. But, I evolved that career into one in Marketing and Communications, which is somewhat aligned with my Mercury placement. Not bad!
I’m not going to go into it here, but while I enjoyed this work, it left me aching for more meaning. I felt pretty guilty about that because other people were happy on this career path. Why not me? By using Astrology, I could understand that I had done pretty well finding my path, but I could also see why I ached for more, and I could see a more fulfilling path – the one I’m on now.
7. How to Use Astrology to Make Your Next Career Move
- You can use astrology to see your true self better. It can help you remove the layers of familial and cultural conditioning, so that the truth of who you are and what you want is revealed.
- It can help you get on a career path that is fulfilling and meaningful.
- Among other things, astrology can also reveal why you’re suddenly feeling restless and if it’s time to make a move or time to sit tight.
Conclusion
You don’t have to 100% believe in Astrology to gain insights from it. When I do readings, I’m not looking for 100% buy-in from my clients. I’m looking for things that are helpful to them as they navigate a transition.
With that in mind, I invite you to explore your chart. I offer a bunch of different types of readings, but if this resonated with you, I’d recommend Module 4 – Career Blueprint, which you can find at the bottom of this page.
I’d love to help guide you on your journey to a more fulfilling career. Until then, stay sensitive!
